For our Sustainable & Deep tech Innovation Department we are looking for a: 

SALES FOCUSED MANAGING CONSULTANT

In this role you lead, guide, and strengthen a team of approximately 6 dedicated innovation consultants to together create impact for our clients and the planet. You will act as a role model in Innovation Consultancy at Catalyze and play a critical role in enhancing organizational performance and in expanding market position of Catalyze in high potential areas of Sustainable Solutions and Industrial & Digital Tech.

You will report to the Business Unit Director Green and Sustainable Innovations / Industrial and Digital Technologies. 

This role is a combination of Account Management, Sales & Leading a Team


Primary Focus:

  • Build and manage teams executing Dutch grants and highly competitive EU grants such as EIC, Eurostars, Horizon Europe etc. according to predefined targets.
  • Bring new business from existing clients & executing projects in the space of Green & Sustainable Innovations including Energy Transition, Sustainable Food systems and Biobased industry and Industrial & Digital Tech including quantum technology, photonics, electronics,

As a Managing Consultant, you have what it takes to bring innovations to life. You can quickly identify the key challenges in our client’s innovation development path and define the right projects that will help our clients to overcome these challenges and create impact. You have profound expertise in innovation consultancy, and establish and maintain an active network of clients and generate new business opportunities. As Managing Consultant, you act as the ‘team optimizer’ and ‘performance enhancer’ within the department and are responsible for the overall performance of the Consultancy team, and aligning operations with the company’s mission while maintaining high-quality client service.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Guide and motivate your team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Sales & Account Management: Build strong client relationships, drive new business, and deliver on defined sales targets.
  • Funding Proposal Development: Oversee a team focused on crafting winning proposals for both EU funding programs—including EIC Accelerator, Eurostars, Horizon Europe—and national programs such as WBSO and other Dutch innovation grants.
  • Performance Management: Monitor team output and financial results, proactively steering performance to meet targets.
  • Resource Allocation: Strategically assign projects based on consultant expertise and client needs.
  • People Development: Support continuous growth through coaching, mentorship, and career planning.
  • Quality & Operations: Ensure high-quality service delivery and manage key operational processes (e.g. planning, HR, reporting).
  • Strategic Contribution: Actively contribute to Catalyze’s mission through innovation, process improvement, and cross-team collaboration.
  • Client Engagement: Lead by example with hands-on project support and trusted client advisory.

Qualifications

  • Proven leadership skills and experience in a consultancy environment.
  • Prior Team Lead experience is required.
  • A relevant Master’s degree, preferably with a science and/or business focus.
  • Substantial experience (6+ years)  in business development and sales, grant writing, writing strategic plans or business plans and/or in managing large projects in a client-facing role
  • At least 5 years of work experience in a commercial environment, in an business development/advisory/consulting role
  • Demonstrable insights into the development of Green & Sustainable Innovations / industrial and digital Technologies, from ideation to commercialization.
  • Exposure to EU & national funding programs and the funding landscape.
  • A background or experience in areas related to Green and Sustainable Innovations, Industrial and Digital Technologies, or Life Sciences and Health is a plus.
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken) and command over Dutch language is an advantage.
  • Based in The Netherlands.

  • Excellent commercial skills to be able to spot potential business opportunities and convert them into sales.

  • Excellent time and client management skills and the ability to transfer these skills.
  • Great problem-solving and decision making skills
  • Is result-driven and has excellent commercial awareness
  • Is highly pro-active and has an entrepreneurial mindset
